Torque & Cleans in White Settlement
A torque and clean is routine maintenance for your electrical panel. We shut it down safely, tighten every connection to the manufacturer's spec, clean out dust and debris, and walk you through what we saw in plain words before we leave.

What a torque and clean actually is
Every wire in your panel is held by a screw terminal. Over years of heating up and cooling down, those screws can work slightly loose. A loose connection runs hotter, and heat makes it looser still. Left alone, that cycle can scorch a breaker, damage the bus bar and cause flickering or dead circuits.
A torque and clean breaks that cycle. We use a torque screwdriver or wrench set to the values printed on your panel's label, so each connection is snug without being overtightened. Then we vacuum and brush out the dust, insect debris and grit that collect inside, especially in panels mounted on an outside wall.
Our electrician holds a Master Electrical License, and we have 5 years in business behind us. On every visit, we want you to understand what was checked, what was fine and what, if anything, needs a closer look.

What we check and tighten
- 01
Breaker and neutral terminals
Each branch circuit connection on the breakers, neutral bar and ground bar gets torqued to the value your panel maker lists. We note any screw that turned noticeably, since that tells us where heat may have been building.
- 02
Main and feeder connections
We check the main breaker lugs and large feeder conductors. Some service-side connections stay energized even with the main off, and we'll explain plainly if any of those need attention and what it takes to reach them safely.
- 03
Aluminum conductor care
Many service conductors are aluminum, which expands and contracts more than copper. Where it fits the terminal, we clean the connection and apply antioxidant compound before retightening.
- 04
Cleaning the enclosure
We remove dust, cobwebs, wasp nests and debris from the cabinet and around the breakers. A clean panel runs cooler and is easier to inspect next time.
- 05
Visual heat and wear check
We look for discolored insulation, melted plastic, pitting on the bus bar, rust and signs of water. You get photos of anything worth knowing about.
- 06
Cover and labeling
We make sure every knockout opening is closed and the dead front fits properly. If your circuit directory is blank or wrong, we can point that out so it can be updated.
Questions about Torque & Cleans?
Call(682) 474-0799Signs your panel is due for one
Warm panel cover or breakers
A breaker or cover that feels warm to the touch, especially during long summer stretches when the AC runs all afternoon, often points to a loose or overloaded connection.
Lights that flicker or dim
Flickering that shows up on one circuit, or when a big appliance starts, can come from a terminal that has backed off.
A faint burning smell
Any hot plastic smell near the panel deserves attention. Turn off the affected breaker if you can do so safely and book a visit.
Buzzing or crackling
Panels should be quiet. A buzz or crackle usually means current is jumping across a poor connection.
An outdoor panel that hasn't been opened in years
Exterior panels collect dust, moisture and insects. Even with no symptoms, a look inside every few years is reasonable.
How the visit goes
- 1
We talk first
When you call, we ask about your panel's age, its location and anything you've noticed. That lets us plan the time needed and tell you about how long the power will be off.
- 2
Planned shutdown
We let you know before we turn off the main so you can save work and set aside anything that needs power. Most homes are without power for part of the visit, not the whole day.
- 3
Tighten, clean and inspect
We remove the cover, torque each connection to spec, clean the enclosure and take photos as we go. Anything damaged gets set aside for a conversation, not quietly replaced.
- 4
Power back on and tested
We restore power, check voltage and confirm your circuits are working. Then we put the cover back on and clean up the area.
- 5
Plain-English rundown
Before we leave, we show you the photos and explain what each finding means. If something needs repair, we tell you your options and what each would involve.
What affects the cost
A torque and clean is usually a straightforward visit, but no two panels are alike. We'll go over the scope with you on the phone and before any extra work starts, so the price never surprises you.
- Panel size and number of circuits
- A large panel with many breakers takes longer to torque than a small one. Subpanels in a garage or shop add time too.
- Condition inside
- Heavy dust, corrosion or nesting insects take extra cleaning. Badly corroded terminals may need more than a retightening.
- Access
- A panel behind shelving or in a tight closet takes longer to work on safely than one on an open wall.
- What we find
- If we spot a scorched breaker or damaged bus bar, that becomes a repair. We explain it and price it separately before doing it, and you decide.
Torque and clean questions
How often should my panel get a torque and clean?
For most homes, every few years is reasonable. Panels outdoors, panels serving heavy loads like an EV charger or a workshop, and older panels benefit from more frequent checks. We can suggest a schedule after we've seen yours.
Will the power be off while you work?
For part of the visit, yes. The main has to be off before we put a tool on the breaker terminals. When we book, we give you a rough window for the outage, so you can charge phones, pause the laundry and keep the fridge closed until we're done.
Is tightening panel screws a safe DIY job?
It's one we'd ask you to leave to us. The service lugs feeding the main stay energized even when the main breaker is switched off. Too much force can crack a breaker housing or crush the strands of a wire, and too little leaves the connection loose. Getting it right takes a calibrated torque tool, the values from your panel label and proper protective gear.
What if you find a problem?
We stop, take photos and show you. Then we explain what it means and your choices, whether that's a simple electrical repair or, for a panel near the end of its life, a conversation about panel upgrades. Nothing extra happens without your okay.
Is this the same as surge protection?
No. A torque and clean maintains the connections you already have. Surge protection adds a device that helps guard your electronics from voltage spikes. Many people pair the two in one visit since the panel is already open.
Ready to have your panel looked after?
Tell us a little about your panel when you call, and we'll set up a time that works for you. You'll get clear findings and photos before we go.
