Home Battery Backup Systems in White Settlement

A home battery keeps your fridge, lights, Wi-Fi and other key circuits running when the grid drops, with no fuel and no engine noise. We explain what a battery can realistically power, how long it lasts, and what your panel needs before anything is installed.

What a Home Battery Does and When It Makes Sense

A home battery stores electricity and hands it back to your home the moment utility power stops. The switchover happens automatically, usually fast enough that clocks and computers never notice. Unlike a generator, there is nothing to refuel, start or exercise, and it runs silently.

The trade-off is capacity. A battery holds a set amount of energy, so the real question is which circuits it should carry and for how long. Most families start by backing up the essentials: refrigerator, a few lights and outlets, internet, a furnace fan or well pump. Running central air from a battery is possible, but it takes more capacity and careful planning.

Our job is to walk you through those choices in plain terms so you know what you are paying for. We hold a Master Electrical License and are NABCEP certified, and we've spent our 5 years in business doing exactly this kind of careful electrical work.

What Your Battery Installation Includes

Load review

We look at what you actually run during an outage and how much power each item draws. That tells us how much battery capacity you need, so you are not sold more than your home uses.

Backup panel or whole-home setup

Most installs move your essential circuits into a separate backup panel. If you want the whole house covered, we explain what that adds in capacity and equipment before you decide.

Mounting and placement

Batteries have temperature limits set by the manufacturer. We pick a wall in the garage or outside that stays within them, keeps clearances, and leaves room for future service.

Paperwork and sign-offs

We file for the permit ourselves and book the inspector visit that whichever office covers your address calls for. If the utility wants notice or approval before a battery connects, we take care of that paperwork too.

Setup and a walkthrough

Before we leave, we set up the system, test a real switchover, and show you how to read the app or display so you know what charge you have left.

Signs a Battery Backup Is Worth a Look

  • Outages cost you food or work

If a few hours without power means a spoiled fridge or a missed day of working from home, backup for a handful of circuits can solve it.

  • Someone relies on medical equipment

Oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines and powered beds need steady power. A battery picks up the load without anyone having to start an engine in the dark.

  • You don't want a generator

Some homes have no good spot for a generator, or the owners simply don't want fuel, noise or exhaust. A battery mounts on a wall and makes no sound.

  • Winter storms leave you nervous

North Texas ice storms can knock power out for longer than a flashlight lasts. Stored power keeps a few rooms usable and your heat fan running while you wait.

How a Battery Install Comes Together

  1. 1

    Service visit and panel check

We look at your panel, your service size and the spots where a battery could go. We also ask what matters most to you when the power is out.

  2. 2

    Options in writing

You get a clear breakdown: battery size, which circuits it covers, whether your panel needs work first, and what each choice means for runtime.

  3. 3

    Permit and scheduling

Once you pick an option, we file the permit and set an install date that works for your household.

  4. 4

    Install day

Power is off for part of the day while we connect the battery and backup panel. We tell you ahead of time roughly when, and we clean up before we go.

  5. 5

    Inspection and handoff

After the inspector signs off, we run a final test and walk you through how the system behaves during an outage.

What Moves the Cost of a Battery System

Battery pricing depends far more on your goals than on the box on the wall. Two homes on the same street can need very different systems. We price your job after we've seen your panel and talked through what you want covered.

Storage capacity
More stored energy means longer runtime or more circuits covered. Adding a second battery is the biggest single jump in cost.
Essentials or whole home
Backing up a few key circuits is simpler than covering everything, including central air and an electric range.
Panel condition
An older or full panel may need replacement or rework first. If so, we explain why and price it separately, and you can read more on our Panel Upgrades page.
Location and wiring distance
A battery right next to the panel costs less to connect than one across the garage or on a far exterior wall.
Permit and utility requirements
Permit fees and any utility steps vary by jurisdiction and are included in your estimate.

Home Battery Questions We Hear Often

Something not covered here? (682) 474-0799

How long will a battery run my house?

It depends on what you ask it to run. Essentials like a fridge, lights and internet can often run through a long evening and overnight on one battery. Air conditioning drains it much faster. We give you a realistic estimate based on your own loads during the visit.

Should I get a battery or a generator?

A generator runs as long as it has fuel, so it suits long outages and big loads. A battery is quiet, needs no fuel and switches over cleanly, but it has limited stored energy. We do both, so we can lay out the honest trade-offs for your home, and our Generator Installation page covers that side.

Can the battery go in my garage?

Often, yes. Garages here get very hot in summer, so we check the battery's rated temperature range and clearances before choosing a wall. If the garage won't work, an outdoor-rated unit is usually an option.

Do you pull the permit?

Yes. The permit is on us, and so is setting up the inspection with whichever office covers your address. If the utility needs to know about the battery before it goes live, we take care of that conversation as well.

Does a battery need maintenance?

Very little. There is no engine to service. We show you how to check charge and system status, and we're glad to look it over if something seems off.
